No sound from Kef LS50 speakers

I'm hoping a good hi-fi samaritan out there can help me...

I bought a new hi-fi set up in October: Kef LS50 speakers, Arcam FMJ A19 amp, Pro-Ject debut Carbon speakers. Primarily for playing vinyl, which it does brilliantly.

I go to play a record this morning and there's no sound. I test it through the headphones and it sounds fine, so I check the speaker connections, which are as I left them. Disconnected and then reconnected them again, and still nothing.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm at a loss to explain what could have possibly happened overnight, and what to do to fix it! Everythings well within warranty so that's not an issue, but I dont want to take the amp back if it all necessary.

Thanks!

Hi Adamsimcox,

This seems an almost rude question- but you haven't accidently hit the mute button have you?

Failing that double check the speaker connections at both ends pay particular attention to ensure that no stray wires are touching and that any banana plug/spades are not loose/touching - the Arcam's are well protected against faults and may be muting output to the speakers down due to a tiny short between speaker connections. Failing that there could be an internal fault which will be a warranty claim...

Thanks

Incorrect source selected? Scroll through them anyway. Turn the amp off and back on, maybe source didn't lock.

Hi David

Thanks for replying. Yes, unfortuntely it is, which I guess means it's a problem with the amp - think it's going to have to go back. Frustrating after only 4 months of use.

I believe john cage composed a song called 4'33...its 4 minutes and thirty three seconds of silence? Its a long shot? Was this the record you were playing?
