hello to you all, my rear projection is on the way out sadly so an lcd 32 inch is on the wifes wish list but which one. i have about £600.00 on either a sony samsung or a panasonic.if i can spend less all the better, one of my concerns is this warrenty business. i know john lewis are good for 5 years but richer sounds are cheaper with a 10% price of the telly for 5 years. i have to admit tv is not my bag except for football but the wife loves watching movies so a good picture and reliability is a high priority. thanks for any help you can offer. gregory.

If it's football and movies you're mostly watching, I wouldn't scrimp on an LCD - the cheaper ones, even from the best brands, aren't the very best with fast motion.

However, the good news is that with all the new ranges out, last years' models are being discounted while this year's models seem to be offering more at similar money.

We haven't seen it yet (though its siblings are shaping up well), but Panasonic's brand-new TX32LZD85 (more info here) looks promising for an estimated price of £600. Should be in shops for you to have an ogle at any day.

If you want to buy right now, i'd seek out the last stocks of Panasonic's TX32LXD70 or Sony's KDL32D3000 - both available for £600 or less if you shop around.

Which brings me to your retail question - good thread here about extended warranties that covers most bases. It comes down to more peace in mind or more pounds in pocket...

Any more questions, please ask.

thanks for the quick reply clare, i think i will go to john lewis for the peace of mind offered for their warranties. i maybe able to stretch another £100.00 but that is the absolute maximum, i could always ask for a deal on an ex demo set.
