Having turned away from tradiitonal Hifi some time ago, and currently using a Sonos set up in my house, I have a little more space (and money) and want to buy a system comprising of turntable, amp and speakers, on a budget of around £1000, though could stretch a little if needed. Is it wise to split the budget into 3, i.e. about £300-350 for each component or should I say, spend £500 on the B&W 685 S2s and spend about £250-300 on amp and turntable? Any advice and recommendations gratefully received. I had thought about the Marantz PM6005 amp and Dali Zensor 3 speakers (which I can get on offer for about £500 for the 2), with a Pro-ject turntable, maybe the debut Carbon. Does anyone know if they play well together or have other recommendations. I will try to get to a store to listen to some options but would like to shorten the list. Finally I'd probably buy a Sonos Connect so that I can use the Sonos streaming capability too. Thanks.

For a straightforward stereo system as you describe, I'd be looking to budget nearer £500 for the turntable and cartridge, then split the balance between speakers and amp.

As an example, I'd rather have a Rega RP3 source with a Marantz amp and any one of many excellent speakers in the £200+ range.
