I have a 1080 i hitatchi tv, 42 plasma and currently own a denon 1920 as a source. I was thinking of moving into a blu ray player but have been told that the upscale in the sony 300 wont do any good because my tv is only 1080i? How true is this

Hi Mike

It's true your Hitachi won't be able to display Blu-ray at Full HD 1080p resolution, but the player can still scale the picture to fit the resolution of your screen. However, if you want to get the full benefit of Blu-ray, then you'd need a Full HD, 1080p resolution TV.

professorhat:My TV has maximum resolution of 720p but the improvement of Blu-Ray over DVD is still very noticeable.

same hear, but mine is HD DVD, i have for example transformers on DVD and HD DVD and there is a noticeable step up in quality using the HDDVD on my 720p TV
