Hi, I´m from Slovenia and would like to have your opinion about the following subject.

I own a 8-year-old set up: an amplifier Marantz PM7000, a CD player Marantz CD6000OSE and bookshelf speakers Mission 780.

I have constant problems with my speakers so I´m thinking about buying a new pair. My room has about 20 square meters. I mostly listen to Rock and classical music. I would prefer floorstanders though I have nothing against bookshelf speakers either, as long as they are a better choice. My budget limit for floorstanders is about GBP500 and for bookshelf speakers about 400GBP. I have already tried Monitor Audio RS6 but they have produced too much bass for my room (I´ve found it annoying).

Considering my conditions which speakers would you recommend?

Thanks for your answers

Try the KEF IQ5 SE (floorstander), if you can get hold of them. I think they would be a good match for the rest of your system, and being tight and punchy in the bass they shouldn't overpower your room. Also take time to position the speakers correctly- don't put them in corners, and if the bass is too strong, move them further from the rear wall. (I don't wish to patronise, you probably already know that!)

For a standmount, I'd recommend Monitor Audio Bronze BR2s or B&W 685s. Either of these would be brilliant with your kit. Personally I'd go for the Monitor audios, and spend the rest on a pair of decent stands if you don't already have them...

Best of luck Mikot!

Jon.
