New speakers for old MF system - help!

After a recent house moving disaster I need a new pair of speakers to go on the end of my old Musical Fidelity system which comprises of an X-RAY cd, X-A200R and a pair of X-A50 amps.

I've been out of the upgrading game for years now and have no idea what would be a good start for auditioning.

Floor or standmounts are fine, budget up to £1000.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I found MF went fabulously with Tannoy, but they were a bit lower end thatn a grand. Got to look at PMC, Spendor, Proac.

I'd also love the Opera Grande Mezza to be as good as it looks, but have no idea.........
