i went to richer sounds today to demo projector/kuro, i was advised tv over pro due to sport wouldnt be so great,

I am looking to do a full kit out and again was advised on onkyo 607 amp and kef 2005.3 speakers and pioneer bdp 51fd blue ray,

When i mentioned about sony s5000es/sony str-da5400es combo he mentions that it big jump up and need to justify price diff,

Surely this is a good set up with the Kuro, whfi rate them

also my wife is up for me to spend the extra for better sound vision,

Please advise so i can spend and start enjoying asap

Thanks

Which branch?

Just a guess, but they don't stock projectors or the Sony combo you mention I'm guessing?

If all the above is true, my main advice would be to go somewhere which does stock the above and then make your own mind up if it's worth the extra over the RS advice.

However, I can say, if you're willing to pay, there is no doubt at all you can beat an Onkyo 607 feeding KEF 2005.3 speakers.

BTW - I'm not down on Richer Sounds at all - in my experience, they have always offered great service to me, However, as with any large company, that can't always be true to everyone and, to me, it seems you're getting bad advice here given what you've told us.

I presume they don't stock the high end equipment, so you would need to go to a specialist maybe Sevenoaks or a like. As for that combo it's quite good for a budget amp and satellite speaker package, but you will get alot more from Traditional speakers. If your a big movie fan and have a decent space then i would definetly look at a projector, and get a budget 50" plasma for tv viewing. My plan would be to wallmount the plasma and have a pulldown screen that could cover the plasma for movies and sport, best of both worlds.

I recently bought a Sano PLV Z-700 for about a grand, lets just say the picture is nothing short of stunning!

I have it onto a 9' (yes thats Feet) wide screen playing blu-ray through a PS3 and DVD through a Samsung upscaling player. While the picture from the Blu-rays is obviously much superior, the DVDs upscaled, and SD content that i have downloaded through the PS3 are excellent also. For that "Big screen" feeling, the projector simply cant be beaten for the money, in my opinion.

NB, I also have an earlier Pioneer "kuro", and while the picture may be better on SD broadcasts, it is also much smaller :)

In my situation, i have the pioneer in my living room, and the projector in a dedicated cinema room, and this works works supremely for me, if you cant get the room dark enough however, the projector will not be suitable.
