Hi. In the past, I have used Bose Quiet Comfort headphones with my iPod but in recent years I haven't really used the iPod. I am going on holiday at the end of July and I'm going to use the iPod again. Unfortunately my Bose headphones are broken beyond repair, probably at the hands of a 5 year old or 2 year old.

What headphones would you recommend for consideration? It would be for iPod/iPhone only playing MP3 files as I use Grado with my hifi for FLAC but don't want to take them on holiday as they are a bit big.

I have considered the B&W P3 or P5. Is there anything else in their price range or cheaper that you wold recommend? My music is mainly blues, hard rock etc but I also have other genres I enjoy so maybe an all rounder is best. I would prefer on ear as opposed to in ear.

Thanks,

Gareth

The P5 is a better choice than the P3, having fewer colorations. When I travel I like a small lightweight headphone that has the proper full spectrum of sound, and comes with a proper travel case that affords the headphone good protection in luggage or backpacks. Just the first 2 parameters (size and sound quality) narrow the field considerably, and the final thing (the case) is almost never supplied. Both P5 and P3 qualify, but the P3 gives up highs and some midrange smoothness in exchange for a lower price.
