New amp..........is it worth it for the return?

I have an RX V 2700 which is excellent, but there is that nagging feeling that I'm not doing the best I can and that a Z7 would be soooo much better! Especially when the BluRay player arrives

Now the question are,

[*]given that i can deliver the HD audio formats by PCM to the amp, am I missing out on what the Z7 can offer via it's own HD sound decoding?
[*]upscaling/upconversion to 1080p, am I really going to see a difference from the standard Sky+ HD offering of 1080i?

The major advantage that I would like is the auto lip synching, howver for £2,000.00 I'm thinking that the lip sync issues that exist are OK!

So the final question has to be, given what I currently have, is it worth it to upgrade, can the cash be spent elswhere on an upgrade rather than amp specific?

Good though your speakers are, I think such an 'upgrade' would be money wasted. The receiver you have now is more than capable of making the most of the KEFs.

Thanks Andrew, and my comments re upscaling/up conversion and HD sound decoding, any thoughts there?

Could be the suggestion reading between the lines that the speakers should go the upgrade route as well, if a new amp was considered? Would that mean a lesser amp (for want of a better description) in theYamaha range would suit?

Really wouldn't want to replace both.

Decoding? No, you won't notice a difference

Upscaling? May be a difference, but probably pretty marginal.

I really would stick with what you have in the current technology environment. TV landscape still changing, 3D on the way (whether or not you want it at the moment), stuff like that.

Nice one Andrew, thanks very much for your thoughts, that'll put a smile on 'er indoors!
