HI guys
I need help please

I brought a harmony 1000 remote from amazon a while back now and cant fault it. Have now decided to purchase the logitech rf extender to compliment this and make it a lot easier to use. I purchased this from ebay and it came from america i think. When i try to add it to my remote through my computer i get an error message saying it is not compatible with my remote. could this be cause my remote is uk spec and the rf extender is usa spec.

If it the guy on ebay has offered me a full refund as he has never had a problem with these set ups before

Many thanks in advanced for your help

Andy

Both the remote and the extender have different Logitech part numbers for the versions sold here and in the States, so it may well be that there are differences between them, for example in the radio frequencies on which they operate, due to local licensing situations. Or it could just be that the installer system knows where the the bits were bought and won't let them work together, for example to avoid grey imports - but that last bit is pure speculation!

Thanks for the quick reply

I thought it might be the same as i checked the numbers and they are different.

I contacted logitech support by email and was told i would get a reply within 24 hrs and that was four days ago and still no reply.

I think i will try and call them this afternoon to clarify the issue . But as i said the guy has offered me a full refund.

I think I'd take the refund and make sure you buy an extender sold in the same market as the remote you have. Also worth checking you have the latest firmware/installer running.

Yeah i think i will be taking the refund

I checked and updated my to the latest software/firmware so that ok.

So i do think the problem lies with the are from two different markets

Just thought i would put up an update.

I have spoken to logitech now and there is a difference in the frequencies used on both the remote and RF extender in the UK and the US

Thought i would share this so other people dont make the same mistake as me.
