hi all 1st time poster i have been saving and on april the 3rd i get some money coming my may which i want to buy a cd player and a stereo amp £850 is my thinking maybe up to £1000 if i could tell its worth it.

i have Mordaunt Short MEZZO 1 at the minute i need to upgrade my speaker cable as well in that money.

i am green as grass so do i need matching brands i like the arcam solo mini but are hifi systems worse that separates.

i also have a small living room so i would like to play my xbox360 skyhd and a blu ray through the speakers so not sure the best way my lg 1080p telly does have a optical out if that helps.

many thanks in advance simon

Cambridge pair of 740c and 740a would be a good place to start for a grand, especially if you can get a deal on them (they were doing BOGOF recently!)

Fairly sure the 740 has a digital in as well, which you could feed your XBox into for stupendous gaming sound (or your sky box or whatever).

are the solo's not meant to sound great i.e. nearly separates good? if space is an issue and all....

although for that money i'd want more boxes than just the one.
