I am getting frustrated with Squeezeboxes because of slow and incosistent performance of Squeezebox server, therefore I am exploring several options, Sonos, Apple TV, Boxee and Mac Mini. I am more inclined towards MacMini as my HiFi hub because of larger harddisk space powerful processor (compared to Sonos, ATV, Boxee). But before I splash my cash on Macmini I have few questions.

1. Can I control Mac Mini remotely with Ipad or Iphone?

2. How is the Optical Out performance of Mac Mini does it support 24/96 Flac/Wave files?

3. Power consumption , can I wakeup and put it in standby mode remotely?

4. Wifi / wired connectivity and performance.

Thanks for helping in making the right decision.

You can buy an Apple Airport express, and connect the optical up to a Behringer UltraMatch DAC.

You can directly stream music to this from iPhones, Mac Minis etc.

Thanks Globs but that mean I need to use mac mini or some other pc to run Itunes and then use Airport express as streaming device and control it with iphone or ipad. I would be better off using Macmini alone but need to know the answers to my questions above.
