So i'm basically using a Line 6 UX1 as a soundcard at the moment, for those who do not know what it is, it is a recording device for guitars which can be used as a sound card etc.

However, the quality is not that good, and I have recently been getting more and more interested in getting better quality sound. So my question is this..

...should I buy a new soundcard now for about £100, or wait till my birthday, when I have £1,200 to splash across a soundcard, headphones and a pair of earphones? So should I buy now for £100 or wait to get a better one if it is truely worth it?

Have you considered cards from the likes of M-Audio, Lynx... perhaps even an external Edirol?

Prolly too similar to what you use now though, however there are a few well respected opinions that any of these three will be of excellent quality.

I myself plan on getting an Edirol at some point approx £100 (not looked into models yet).
