Yes, it's supremely geeky but a diagram put together in Visio would go a long way to helping other family members (primarily the APs*) understand how everything is connected and thus operate it correctly. Does anyone know where I can find Visio shapes for a/v kit to download; I'm only looking for generic shapes not manufacturer specific items?

(*'Aged Parent' from Great Expectations, Charles Dickens) <- desperate attempt to show literary bent to offset techno-geekiness...

http://www.visiostencils.com/products/stencils_overview.php will sell you some but I imagine you are looking for something for free

http://www.visguy.com/2006/12/15/audio-visual-components-shapes/ has shapes useful for wiring diagrams - again probably not what you are looking for.

Also maybe worth searching www.visiocafe.com

yeah, I found these too when I searched, okay for an a/v rack wiring diagram but as you say, not really what I was after.

Thanks anyway - labelled rectangles it is, I guess..

An occupational hazard of attending too many press launches, and corporate cultures seemingly increasingly more about generating meetings rather than actually producing anything, is the PowerPoint presentation where the presenter bangs the slides up on screen and then reads every word out.

I can read. I can listen. I don't need to do both.

YVW - all part of the service.

And speaking of service, that brings me on to slide 732...

Wash your mouth out. I used to produce Flash presentations, they probably paid for my amp alone.ÿ
