Okay. I have not gone down this road but it does interest me however there a few things I need to get clear in my head to see if its for me & that I have got it right. I have just looked at a few youtube videos to get the gist of what its all about and I think I am their!. With regards to backing up my existing music collection (so its all in one simple place at hand) surely thats going to be quiet a time consuming project especially if I have loads of records? (not the easiest thing to get right) and if I am still buying CDs and ripping them as appose to downloading MP3s/FLAC etc, what am I achieving?

It very much depends on why you want to "back them up" (copying is the honest description!). Are you intending to play the music files from this location? If not I don't really see the benefit of the exercise. If by "records" you mean vinyl then yes it does take some time, CDs are pretty simple though and only take a few minutes.

Thanks for reply..

That was the plan yes. I think I will stick with my current set up as I am not really interested in downloading MP3s and I don't have hundreds of CDs.
