Hey Guys,

Ok am building my media centre and was wondering how this would work. I have all my music in mp3 format (about 200 gigs) and movies in avi format (about 2 TB).

Ideally, I would like to put all of this onto a NAS drive and access it via a app on my iTouch (already done via a few available)

How do I get a) my music played off my amp - either via a cable or wi-fi - which amps support this ?

How do I get b) my movies played off my amp (connected to the home cinema).

I'm not quite sure if I would be able to if I can 'direct' the iTouch app to stream music into my hi fi system. Can I assume that i dont need software to play this off my NAS drive, and this just provides the feed and the system plays this ?

Using iTouch mainly due to its brilliant simplicity and display to control the eventual system.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated..

thanks !

a) If you've got all your music on a NAS, then you could stream it to your amp using a Logitech Squeezebox or a Sonos. In fact, as you've got an iPod Touch, you could get a Sonos ZP90, plug that into your NAS and your Amp, download the Sonos Controller App for your Touch and Robert's your mother's brother

b) You probably want to get a WD TV HD (about £85) and use this to play the movies.
Of course, if your amp and/or TV are DLNA compliant, you could be able to browse for music / films directly...

thanks ! apologies for sounding like a newbie, i've just got onto the media centre scene !

i was looking for a way to not include the Sonos/Squeezebox/ WDTV into the setup. Dint know about the DLNA compliant amp's, will look into these. Know of any within a budget of say 500 quid !? Onkyo and Denon on the net seem to be quite expensive...

So, on a DLNA compliant amp, will I be able to stream stuff off using an iTouch ? I presume the content will play off my amp and not software loaded onto the NAS drive..

I currently dont have a setup, i'm still using arcane hard drives to connect to a cheapo amp/speaker system via the 3.5 mm jack !
