Nas drive and seperate dac

Hi, a quick question. I want to connect a nas drive, for storing music, to my existing stereo amplifier. Do I need a streamer, or can I simply connect nas to dac via usb, and operate via an app on my tablet?

Eventually I would add a streamer for Internet radio, but funds are tight, so hoping to start with Nas plus dac.

synology nas allows you to connect a usb dac directly up to it and control from a smartphone/tablet - no need for a dedicated streamer

If you get a streamer you don't need a DAC.

not all streamers have dacs in though. Some are literally just network devices.
