Hello all,

I have a question. A friend of mine has a NAD D7050 amplifier and wants to hookup a turntable. The problem with the NAD is that it does not have any analog inputs.
In order to solve this problem I figured he could buy either a USB turntable or a normal turntable with an external phono stage with USB output (the NAD PP4, for example) and hook those up to the USB input of the NAD D7050. This solution is also proposed here (http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/the-audiophile-system-builder-v/).

I also contacted NAD about this problem and they told me it was not possible to connect over USB since that input designed for connecting to PC/MAC.
So I have to contradictory answers... 🙂 My question to you people: Have any of you tried or have experience with this problem? Thanks!

You need a phono stage that outputs a spdif digital signal over rca or toslink. Such devices do exist but they are rare and pretty expensive. Those with usb outputs are designed to capture vinyl to a PC.

You can try a regular phono stage plus an inexpensive analogue to digital coverter if you are really determined to make it work, not expensive, but inelegant in the extreme.
