I have a sky dish from a previous occupier which I'm sure would still work on reconnecting.

I also have a ntl cable coming in which picks up basic channels as well as a couple of virgin restricted channels.

Freeview reception is poor where I am as I dont have a roof aerial and tried the which best buy aerial to no avial.

I already have o2 broadband but the years up in about 4 months.

So what would be my best option to get TV again, as I currently dont have one. I'm thinking along the lines of sky, or a freesat box.

The other issue is I'd like to have the tv in 2 rooms as I am looking for a lodger and sure they will want there own tv cable and be able to choose their own channels.

I really appreciate any replies and advice, thank you.

i would like to try the extra music channels possibly. main thing is i need multiroom, not sure if i have to subscribe to sky to do this or if there is a cheaper way of doing it. i have 2 bedrooms and hopefully have a lodger in soon who will probably want there own sky box.

Multiroom funtionality for Sky or Freesat will require an LNB upgrade to either Quad or Octo LNB and the relevent cabling to each room. It's worth remembering that PVR's require two feeds from the dish so may be worth running two feeds to each room anyway.

ok thanks that would make sense running 2 feeds to each room. so i will need a quad lnb then, i will check in the morning when its light. is subscribing to multi room the only way of doing this then there is no DIY way?

It's easy enough to change the lnb and run the cabling your self providing your competent on ladders/working at heights.

As for multiroom subscriptions, that only applies if you go for sky, and set-up/subscription costs will very depending on the type of stb's,packages and any deal's that sky may have running atm.

Obviously if you go for freesat then it's just the initial cost of the stb's + lnb(if needed) and cabling.
