I bought the 1510 Amp a few months ago along with B&W 683's and P7's with source of DacMagic Plus and Debut Carbon, and here are my impressions :

1. Build is very nice! Big and heavy amp and the knobs are a delight to switch. Very expensive feel to the knobs. The back side has gold plated outputs.

2. It has a very good headphone amp. I use my P7's in it and absolutely love it

3. It also has a good Phono pre amp built in which does away with the need for a phono amp unless you want to take it to the next level and spend more cash in which case you would hook one up as normal.

4. There is tone knobs for changing bass and treble along with a source direct which will ensure that these are bypassed should you want that.

5. It's future proofed to an extent with the option of using it as a Pre/power amp along with another amp. Maybe more likely to be used in a H/T scenario.

6. This is a powerful amp. It drives my 683's with ease (considering recent posts regarding the 683s being difficult to drive, this is positive). At parties i have played my CD's easily at 12 oclock and some CDs at 3 oclock (albeit they are quite) without a single problem. Never has it struggled. My normal listening is at 9/10 oclock however

7. Bass : the bass is thumping and doesnt have a problem with bringing clarity to the lows or being drowned out by the lows. Highs : are also well controlled and are never too bright. Perhaps the only downside i have noticed is at louder levels the highs and lows seem to drown out the midrange making it difficult to hear specific detail... HOWEVER... this is likely to do with my room which is a nightmare (large square room with one whole side being glass patio window and one side having two windows and a third side having an open archway to the next room and the final side having a chest high wall looking into the kitchen.

Very pleased with this amp, only wish i had got the Focal 726's and not the 683's cause in testing they sounded brilliant together (I chose not to go with 726's as Focal had just realeased a new version and my shop werent getting them in for another 6 months)

hoping to move to a new house giving me an additional 3 bedrooms which would obviously mean i get my Cinema/HiFi room :) will then get to test it out properly, although, i am now looking at the Marantz pearl SACD/Amp combo (not the lites) so that would mean the Denon being put on a shelf. but maybe not.

Nice, under-rated amps these, heard good things about the PMA-15#0 models, I had a PMA-2000AE which was a weighty beast! 8)

Worth a look out for if you can find one second hand, and if it will fit in your rack.... :?

Hi hoops, I have your 2000AE sitting in front of me! Like you say, a much underated amp - smooth effortless grunt. Crystalarts - the denon and Focals are a great pairing.
