Hi all.

Just recently made some changes, and I think I'm now at a point where I'm. Thought I'd post some pictures to see what you think and any tips or improvements you can suggest. I'm also posting my hi-fi set up in another thread.

I started out having a Monitor Audio Bronze surround set-up albeit with Br1s for the rears. I had a pair of RS6s in my hi-fi and decided to move these to the HC, so than I got a RSLCR to match up the front 3 speakers. I also changed my Marantz NR1501 amp for a Yamaha RXV667, probably a bit of a side step, but I thought the extra power of the Yamaha would drive the RS6s better. I've also just got a RSW12 sub (in gloss black). I was the ony bidder on Ebay and got it for quite a good price. I've kept the BR1s for now. I may try and soure some RS1s or R90HDs in the future.

The above two photos show some of the restirctions I have. Ideally I'd like to position the front speakers wider and have the sub on the inside, but as you can see in the second photo is the airing cupboard door which couldn't open if fronts went out more.

The equipment on the bottom shelf is a Belkin PF30, Yamaha RXV667, Sky HD & a Marantz BD5004 BDP. I was a little nervous about siting the PF30 there, but I have used 16mm wooden block under the PF30s feet so its about an inch gap. I'e also pushed the PF30 back a bit so its not blocking all the amps vents. The BDP is a definite keeper.

Does the siting of the sub and rears look ok to you /

That's it for now I hope. Been an expensive few weeks for me but quite happy.

Cheers.

I know it might not suit everyone, but I really like contrasting finishes, with recurring flashes of silver.

I had all walnut before and it looked a little conservative. Also, it's main function is a HC room and not the main sitting room, so can afford to be a bit more in your face.

Looks great

My dad has the same alphason stand as you and only the other day i was thinking i wonder if your monitor audio center speaker would go on it, just gets in there though

I used to have a very similar one to but it had more circular edges.

Is that a Darth Vader picture i see as well?

Cheers

I knew from the MA website that the RSLCR was 20mm higher than the BRLCR I had, as I didn't have a tape judged by eye that it should fit ok. When it came it slotted in only just. There's probably less than half a centimetre gap. PHEW !!

Yes, Darth Vader always 1st thing to go up in a new house along with the bronze T.Rex.

Very nice!

I would also consider the RSFX for the rear as well.

I used to use the R90HDs for surround duties. They are easily wall mounted and match very well tonally with the RS range.

I really like the contrasting finishes. Brave move and it paid off.

great looking set up , how do you find rxv 667 when it comes to driving the rs6's?

Looks very nice indeed richardw42 and your room looks great

Curious about the main fronts and how they are seated - are they spiked or resting on the mat? I'm interested as there may be signifcant gains to be made sound-wise.

Initially I was a little disappointed, I knew it was a bit of a sideways move from the NR1501 but hoped for more. But the 667 was new and I could say now that the sound is a lot stronger after about 3 weeks.

It's not struggling at all with the RS6s, but I have to say where I find the biggest improvent is with the surounds. They feel much more a part of the whole set up.

I don't even bother with the pass-through all sound comes through the RS6s.

I'm very happy with my new amp and for next 12 months won't even think about changing it.

The RS6s are on their own spikes. The Centre sits straight on the stand without feet. TBH no room it's a very tight fit as it is. The sub is on a subdude.
