Good evening,
I'd like to buy my first hi-fi stereo system.
I'm considering the following components:
-Amplifier: Arcam FMJ A19
-Speakers: Q Acoustics 2050i
-CD player: Marantz CD 6005
-Cables: Audioquest FlX/Slip 14/4 speaker cable; Atlas Equator 2 Speaker Cable; Atlas Element Asymmetrical Integra, 2 RCA to 2 RCA Audio

What do you think? Is it a good combination in your opinion? Any other suggestions and/or ideas?

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It would be useful to know a bit more about the music you enjoy listening to, what sort of sound you like, and something about the room in which the system will be used. This information would enable us to help you more thoroughly.

Have you heard your proposed system yet, or have you just picked out a list of 5 star components?

Thank you :)

I love listening to classical music, soundtracks (Morricone, Hans Zimmer, etc.), and a little bit of rock.

I like the details, and the "warm" sound.

The room is about 30 square meters.

Yes, I've just picked out a list of 5 star components. I live in Italy and here it's difficult to test/listen to all of these components.

That's the mistake I made with my first proper hifi. Realized after a few years that I had bright, bright and neutral together although all items were five star rated products.

To to OP, I think it looks a good system but you may need to keep the 2050i's away from the back and side walls. Is the room well furnished? This will have an effect on the sound.

You can't really go wrong with the Marantz CD6005. Looks like a cracking CD player. The Arcam will certainly give you 'warm' and detailed' but reviews suggest it holds back a little with rock and the like. I have a Roksan Kandy K2 and that excels in all styles in my opinion but is a little more expensive.

The Q Acoustic speakers will give a big sound but maybe a touch polite with the rock. For classical and film score I think the system would be great but personally I would go for an amp which can let loose and add a bit of excitement for rock. Maybe a Creek as suggested or one of the new Rotels.

I did that too. Unlistenable after about 30 minutes. Allegedly the amp and cd player were 'warm' but they were anything but.

Yes, that's not so good. In my case, the reviews were accurate but at the time I didn't realize the importance of synergy of the equipment. I thought it's got to be be good 'cos it's all five star.

The arcam needs very careful matching with speakers....as per review.with my speakers...it sounded pretty awful.a £200 micro system would have sounded better. So be careful there...

I preferred the Creek 50A to the Arcam as well but you need to hear them first. Speakers will vary a lot depending on your room, make sure they are suitable for your room, some FS need plenty of space, at that price level I would look at standmounts like Dali Zensor 3s and Kef R100s.
