My Cyrus CD6se is problematic!

My Cyrus CD6se breaks down after I bought for one month. The player often stopped at 2nd song and displayed "Disc Error". I returned to the agent and was told that the player needed an software update. I received back after two weeks and this time the player refuses to play any song! Would CD8se be better as the agent said that I could ask for a replacement of another CD6se or upgrade to a new 8se if the problem persists?

if the problem persists, i thnk you should consider getting a refund. from the lengthy thread that was on here, i don't think the 8 is any better then the 6 in terms of disc reading problems. having said that, i think the firmware upgrade has sorted most problems for most people.

Sorry to barge in but I had similar problems with my 6SE and the unit is only 6 months old (bought new).

Resolved the problem by turning off at the mains which seemed to reset the electronics. This was suggested by the dealer.

Maybe worth trying next time it gets confused.

Have just checked the software version which shows V3.1!!

If the new version is 7.1 was I sold a product that was not up to date?

Does it have to go back to the dealer for the update and can I insist that it gets put right?

Yes! My first repair was actually done with only the firmware update to 7.1. This is because you and I happened to buy the older inventory that have arrived at the retail shops without the pre-installed new firmware.

The trouble is: My 6SE still persists with the problem even though it was updated with the lastest firmware...and it has become worst.

Now I can only listen to music via iPhone while waiting for my 2nd repair in one month. Oh my 3-month-old CD6SE!

Do you have any recommandation for a new CD prayer if I were to request for a refund? I love Jazz and Classical music.

Rega Apollo? That was one of short listed CD before I bought the CD6SE. Anyone has tried Rotel RCD-1520? I plan to upgrade my old Amp to RC 1580 and RB 1582, so a Rotel Player comes to my mind naturally...
