I've just ordered a NMT (HDX BD1) which has network capabilities. I've just remembered that my Sony BDPS550 has a LAN connection. What can I do by linking these two up? Ideally (and I'd be shocked if this were possible!), I could play a BD and copy it to the NMT?

Not a lot: the player's LAN connection is simply there to access t'Interweb to get BD live content and firmware updates

Thanks for the swift, albeit unexciting info Andrew.

Though of course many of the newer generation of Blu-ray players promise to be far more active on the internet front, including YouTube, BBC iPlayer and even Love Film movie streaming....

Indeed, but only in an inward direction where content is concerned: can't see manufacturers letting BD content out through a network connection as the OP was hoping
