would this be a good upgrade with my existing kit until I can get more blood from the stone that is the wife's purse? She is now saying that the Myryad Mi is to much!!

Err.. use your own money maybe?

Given that a Musical Fidelity A5.5 is £1700 and the Myryad is £1250 (approx prices from lazy google searches) what is to be gained financially?

Well, the A5.5 amp is considerably better than the Mi as an amp! Perhaps you could slip in a Beresford DAC or Dacmagic to lift the CDP a bit too.

Chebby the M/F amp is xdem, so alot cheeper.
igglebert my old cd only has phono out will that make a difference to usuing a dac.

That's a shame, you need an optical or coax digital output.

That what I thought, Having said that the amp will be alot better than my old Panny VSA 303
