I want a system where I do not have to keep putting new CDs in to the player - my computer based itunes solution just isn't wokring that well and I was looking at the idea of a music hard drive, Denon have a system as part of their 3-2-1 system but I already have a DVD/surround system and I don't like the interface very much on the Denon system.

I have seen the adverts for the Brennan which is basically what I want. I am sure I have seen full blown hifi seperates with this technology but cannot find anything that seems to match what I'm looking for.

Or is it just not worth having all the CDs on one bit of kit and just play computer or ipod through a decent amplifier and speakers and be done with it? All thoughts welcome

A lot would depend on the MB size of your music collection - as you could get away with a) an Apple TV / Popcorn hour or b) an iPod through a dock or line out cable straight into your amplifier if not TBs of music. 80% of my music listening is piped from my computer to an Apple Airport Express into the stereo; 15% by plugging my iPod into the amplifier(when I'm too lazy to turn on the computer) and 5% of actually playing from CD. After Christmas, I think I might invest in the new Logitech touch controller as I also have network attached storage which it access, thus removing the need to have the computer on. Kind of a luxury item as the computer is always on, so pretty easy to pipe music to the amplifier. I do like have my collection on the iPod as I can plug it in the car as well. I guess, like anything, you have to critically analyse your usage, and work out how to best meet it. I don't think you can beat either the Airport Express route or the iPod route, to be honest.
