multi channel output

hi, you have probably heard this question loads, i have a blu-ray player with multi channel analogue output, but my AV receiver cannot decode the HD audio formats over HDMI, so if i use the multi channel inputs will it be HD audio i am hearing, or would i be better of using the digital coaxial output instead and listen to normal dolby digital surround sound. I am pretty sure that's correct, using the blu ray player as the decoder then analogue to the amp. I am hopeing to do the same soon as my amp has that problem too. Using the multi is useful too for keeping the digital inputs free for other equipment

Yep, you'll be getting HD audio by letting the player decode and outputing via the multi-channel analogues.
