Using a ultra cheap magnavox DVD player as my CD source. It's all I have available while my NAD C545bee is being serviced... Being the father of two toddler aged boys, I would describe the sound as somewhere between yucky and poopy.

matthewpiano:Why is the NAD in service?

It appears to be possessed. Last week it started acting up. It will play normally some of the time, but at other times it acts like it is receiving super high speed remote control commands. It will play a few seconds, then fast forward play, then skip songs forward and back, then play some more, then fast forward some more, and so on. I tried differenct discs and it's not the CDs. I tried unplugging so it could reboot (or whatever) and that did not correct the problem either. I though maybe it was getting some type of air bourne interference, but the buttons on the unit stop working when this happens as well, which seem like an internal problem.

So, today I shipped it off to the NAD service center...

Hope you get it sorted quickly. It must be quite irritating having to put a cheap DVD player through such a good amp and speaker combination, particularly when the CD player is relatively new.

You need to cross to the dark side and purchase an external dac me thinks
