OK a bit of a long shot but here goes.

Pio 5080XD with inbuilt decoder. CA-module is MPEG2 they are bringing out new channels which are MPEG4 if i understand it correctly the MPEG4 CA module would not work in the TV and i would have to have a new external decoder box.

is this correct?

a reply before Friday would be good so that if required i can tell my TV channel supplier to go and take a hike. As i already have a box from another provider.

thanks in advance.

i dont think your tv could show mpeg4 if its mpeg2 , daveh75 is the man who would know for sure id say , you could post the question in the freesat section , it may be answered faster , and by someone who knows for sure

Correct. If your tv has an mpeg2 tuner/decoder it wont be compatible with any channels using mpeg4, so yes it would mean using an external decoder/STB.

I put it as more of a TV question than a service provider question.

anyway looks like the TV Digi tuner will not handle anything other than MPEG2

i am almost 100% sure that that i will need a new box if i keep with the current supplier and then have to resign for 24 months.

but i can get a better deal on the IPTV box that is just sitting there doing nothing. it is HD ready as well.

daveh75 nice one, the wonders of technology your post was not visible to me last night
