Hi I just would like to know the differences between Montor audio's RS6 and their latest version the RX6? and also is it a vast improvement in sound over their previous triumph.

Many people accused the RS series of being bright, and to an extent they were right, but careful matching was needed not to accentuate this. The RX series is quite different - it's much more laid back and wth a smoother treble, which helps their compatibility hugely. Overall, the RX series does sound better, but whether they're worth twice as much as the discontinued RS series can only be decided by the buyer.

It totally depends on the electronics it's paired with. As David said the RX6 is smoother than the RS6 (only huge difference to my ears). The RX6 will pair well with most electronics. The RS6's sound slightly sharper but are much more defined up top in my opinion. I prefer to use RS speakers with warmer electronics to get the ideal sound but retaining that detail. The RX series are much less wearing, especially with a small-ish room. Demo and see what you think!

I would say because the treble has been smoothed over, the midrange has been brought to the fore a little more. Some may see that as better, some just a change in tonal balance.

The size of my room (smallish) and the lower cost was the deciding factor for me. Although I can honestly say I did not notice much difference between the 8's & 6's (demoed both)

See I did, the 6's feel a little faster but the 8's felt more effortless and like they had a much deeper and solid bass extension. It depends on electronics and taste though.
