Hi all,

I'm setting up my new system, and was wondering where the best position would be for the rear speakers.

The problem is that my sofa is close to a wall, which means that if the speakers were to be used with stands then the speakers would be too close to the listening position.

The dealer has advised me to wall mount the speakers as high as possible and at the same distance as they would be if they were mounted on stands, but i looking for further advice from the forum on this.

Can anyone advise me on the best height, and distances between the two speakers when mounting at (2.4 mtr) high level.

Thanks

Which Monitor audios (Radius HD?) and how far away from the sofa are your front speakers. Also, what shape is your room (like is the sofa right in the corner?)

I used to have my KEF 2005.2 set up with the fronts conventionally set at ear-ish height, but because I had a terraced house with the sofa against the wall, I had the rears some 2.25m (out of 3m total) up the wall and about 0.5-6m away from the edges of the sofa, angled down and in.

This worked pretty well for the KEFs.

Hi,

The rear speakers are Radius HD 90, and i am using the Monitor radius one HD speaker for the centre, left and right channels.

When looking down the room, the sofa is on the left and is approx 2.7mtr away from the front speaker. The television is on the right hand side in the corner.

The room shape is rectangular 3.60mtr along the sofa wall and the other wall is 2.80mtr. The sofa is 2.80mtr long.

Check my home cinema setup pics for appropriate position. I've got my R90HD rears mounted at the top near the ceiling corner. Sounds superb!
