Hi
This is my first post, so please go easy on me!
I'm after a new DVD player now that my Pioneer DV656 has finally given up the ghost.
I don't want to join the blu-ray ship that has already set sail. I'm not convinced it's worthwhile at the moment, if at all, but that's another story. I'd like a 'decent' universal player, that musically is as good as, if not better than, it is visually. As well as watching a varied collection of DVDs, I enjoy listening to stereo CDs, multichannel SACDs and DVD-Audio discs. I know the latter are virtually extinct but I still like visiting the graveyard for a listen.
I've read plenty of reviews on what seem to be the best models out there. There's the Denon 1940, the Marantz DV6001, the Pioneer DV-LX50 and the Marantz DV7001 to name but a few.
What I'm after is best value for money (aren't we all?) Luckily I can afford to stretch to the Marantz DV7001 but I'm reluctant to if I'm not getting twice the quality of it's baby brother, the DV6001. Which, if any, of the players compares to my old Pioneer DV656, or has has technology moved on considerably?
So with that in mind, and the fact the the sonic quality of the player is very important to me, I'd be very grateful for your opinions.
Thanks
