Can I use a cheap mixer like the beringer XENYX Q802 to connect a turntable to active studio monitors (Audio Technica LP120 + pair of Yamaha HS5)?

It will work though I have no idea of the quality of the results.
Due you need anything as complex as that mixer? A simple line level pre-amp is all you need, the Schiit Sys is just £50, active version around £100.

What im having difficulty because each speaker acts independantly of each other i need something with 2 x TRS or XLR outputs - 1 to go to each speaker??

Most hi-fi style pre-amps, budget ones anyway, will have a pair of phono outputs, hust use regular phono cables and a phono - mono jack adaptor on the Yamahas.
