Hi there...

I am in a bit of a pickle really, maybe some of my wiser peers can help me out. I have recently acquired a Pioneer LX5090 and have been looking around for a great BD player to hook it up with. So far I have narrowed it down to either Panasonic's BD50 or the upcoming Pioneer LX71...

The reason I am not completely hooked on to BD50 is that many reviews have been praising it for its abilities in the Blu Ray department, whereas its DVD playback abilities have been the target of many complaints. Can anyone tell me whether it is the DVD abilities in general, or merely its upscaling abilities? If it is just the upscaling - and that DVD capabilities are otherwise great, then I think the LX5090 can take over that part...

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,
Claus

I don't think the reviews have complained about the DVD playback, more commented it is not top notch for the price.

Well ...quite a few reviewers have mentioned the DVD performance to be mediocre...

Does anyone have personal experience with this player and its abilities in the DVD sphere?
