Mezzo 9 vs RSW12?

Mezzo 9 has a 375W amplifier while the RSW12 has a 500W digital amplifier, although the Mezzo goes lower in frequency response to 30Hz as compared to 40Hz in the RSW12 (one of the main criticisms of RSW12). BK subs are well regarded because their frequency response goes well below 20Hz.

You really have to demo & compare them yourself to check which is better. Remember that the RSW12 is hugely discounted as it has been discontinued by Monitor Audio, so the supply at that price will be limited.

I thought that the RSW12 went down to 21Hz.

RSW12 it is, dont really like the whole wait 3 weeks for a sub from b&k thing, I cant imagine the xls400 would be miles and miles and miles better that the MA

I know MA are good quality, and everyone has raved about it.

Just got to sell my R370HD, cant belive it hasnt sold, its only on for 300.00, its worth every penny of 300.00 thats for sure.

Just looked and the avergae human can only hear bewteen 20hz and 20,000hz and a human heart is 2hz, so I think 21 is good enough.

Yes, you're right. It does go down to 21Hz.

Frequencies below 20Hz are not audible, but these are subwoofers, not speakers. The lower the better. The threshold of human hearing is somewhere around 20Hz but bass lower than that can be felt. Now there are people that will claim that 30Hz response is low enough, and for the most part with music, that's true. But for home theatre where many of the effects and impact come from the subwoofer, lower is most definitely better.

The lower frequencies are felt by the sub moving air. You may not hear below 20Hz but you most definitely feel it. The lower frequencies is what shake the house.

Thats true, but the BK is bigger and will have to wait up to a month, from what people say.

And they are only like 19 to 20hz anyway.

Just seen the PV1 and that goes to 21hz, and what hi-fi were amazed, so 21hz cant be all that bad.

I got neighbours and kids so I am sure the RSW12 will be more than enough especially if I am already happy with my R370HD.

And I like looks as well, which the RSW12 fits perfect for black gloss, which BK want extra for as well.

i have heard the montior audio bronze and silver subs with music and films and the bronze was good still saving. But if you could get the silver you would be well happy if that was not good enough you have very high standards. Good luck

Hi Canada 16,

There' s two EQ settings on the sub 21 hz and 27hz, for every day use I run mine on the latter, its that powerful.

Switch to 21hz for movies believe me you'll feel it , it amazes me everytime .

Buy with confidence before its too late, at these prices its' a ''no brainer''

I was just making a point about why frequencies below 20Hz is not 'useless' because they can't be heard by the human ear. Hardcore audiophiles are more fussed about the lower frequencies, that's why BK & SVS are amongst their favourites.

RSW12 will perfectly suit your needs.

I like to consider myself HARDCORE........

But really, I think my sub is great, and it shakes the house, but feel it can go a bit deeper, I am sure once I get the RSW12, and three months later I will want to sell it and get a better one, I am like that, but only if an amazing deal comes up.

I dont really see a point in waiting up to a month just for 1 or 2 hz, and not as good looks as the MA

I bet you don't! Seriously, I love all my stuff and I've been wowed by every piece. However, when I swapped albeit a budget Jamo for the RSW12, I couldn't believe it!! By the way, the reason you might be struggling to sell the 360HD might be that others know that the RSW12 can be had for cheap and it's obviously a lot better.

Maybe, but have it at 299.95, which is a steal I think for the quality, the BK gemini sells for about 250.00 and dont think its as good.

dont really want to go below 299 as would rather keep it than put it to 250.00 as cant really afford to spend an extra 150.00 for the RSW12.
