I heard Golden Ear Tritton2s. impressions? - simply stunning. I'd wager that Aon3s are also cut from the same cloth. although you don't get the active bass.

Ooh, I'm a little excited... If all goes well, I'm trying the Triton Two next Thursday (I asked to hook it up to a SET-amp); But then, I wonder if I could get over its looks; I saw them once - didn't get to hear them - and I was ... well, a little underwhelmed, to say the least! But maybe the sound can make up for that! And as if that weren't enough, the Magnepan 1.7 is also on the program that afternoon! As I said before, a little excited!

Oldric, what do you think would be the tweeters share in the Golden Ears sound? Still looking for in ceiling speakers, and considering the Golden Ears for this purpose too. And I can't find where to audition those (nor the Triton Three or the Aons for that matter)...

Interesting question, by the way, OP. As the Martin Logans also use a folded ribbon tweeter, there might be some similarities with the Golden Ears, but their looks are certainly smarter!

that's sounds like quite a competition! IMO it's going to be a tough call. but I won't be throwing in my preconceptions into the mix. judge by yourself only and share your impressions afterwards.

I think Heils are spectacular. very fast and articulate. if I was ever again looking around for a pair of boxes they would definitely be sporting Heils.

good point. I should have made one in my previous post. I don't think there would be major differences in sonics between ML and GE speakers. they both will be very capable options. I personally would go for GE. they use bigger woofers and will go lower without much distortion in bass.also passive bass radiator will output much less noise than usual bass reflex port.

Thanks for your insight, Oldric! i'll keep you posted...

I hope all goes well, this time. Last time this dealer had completely forgotten about our appointment, and the audition could't take place! But he appears to be the only one in Belgium with Magnepan (and now Golden Ear too) in demo, so I guess I'll give him another chance! And I'll give him a call the day before, to freshen up his memory :)
