the BEST is obviously down to personal preference but these guys ~

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/TM3CONNECTIONS

do what I would say is best for the cash. They do both a copper braid and a silver plated braid configuration (I have the silver plated (possibly solid silver, ive forgotten now to be honest) and it made a difference to my virgin media box)

1jonnyboy:which is the best fig 8 mains cable?

Hi Johnnyboy,

Figure of 8 connectors are limiting due to their current rating of 1A and also since they can only accept a small diameter cable and small gauge conductors (modifying the connector to accept a large diameter cable and larger conductors will invalidate any safety approvals and can be dangerous).

An IEC-to-Figure 8 Adaptor which fits onto the end of a standard IEC connector (which can usually accept larger diameter cables and larger conductors without modification) will allow a higher-performance cable to be used. This option will open up your options and you could therefore look at any power cable on the market.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Darren

There's a chap on eBay who sells Black Rhodium Fusion based figure-of-8 cables. I can highly recommend these.

I must admit that I tried a russ andrews connector on my virgin box and used a full on IEC cable. Invariably it broke my box!! (The connection point actualy broke clean off leaving me with a 'dead' virgin box)

I dont recommend it myself either (Managed to blag a replacement no problem though which is why I went for the silver 8 fig)

Hi aliEnRIK,

I have heard of this problem before. If you find that the adaptor is stressing the Figure 8 inlet - due to the cable pulling the adaptor down - then you can support the adaptor with a small piece of wood underneath to keep the adaptor horizontal and therefore eliminating any stress.

All the best,
Darren
