MacBook or Airport Express for Optical out.

I use a PC with AppleTv and Airport Express at home, Im going to demo some amps & DAC's tomorrow and have Borrowed a MacBook pro to use as a source with iTunes and some of my lossless audio on it.

Is the Optical out from the Headphone/Optical Jack on the MacBook bit Perfect was going to Hook up my AE but if the output from the mac is as good I can simplify things a lot.

Thanks JD that will make the whole setup much simpler, hook up the Mac and control it with an iTouch, will be good enough for dem purposes, goal is to get a home dem if I find anything I like.

It worked really well for a demo, I made a play list (lossless) with a few songs I know well, Used the Mac to create a WiFi Hotspot and connected to it with an iTouch and used Remote on the Touch to switch between the tracks I wanted from the comfort of the demo seat no jumping up and down to change CD's.
