I still reckon with the 326, Max will have a bigger sound advantage by keeping the BR5 and upgrading the amp and CDP.

I have a box of Kleenex waiting to wing its way across the Irish Sea.

well i guess thats why these forums are so interesting , you get to hear many points of view..

as is so often the case on here , its not whos right or wrong , just whats right for you , im not expecting the rx6s to blow away the br5s , im obviously hoping they will be better , bassier , clearer , more open etc , by what degree i dont yet know ..

i love the look of the rx6s , love it , big , wide , chunky , yet with top build quality to boot , nobody has a bad word to say against them , reviews are 5 out of 5 , im able to upgrade at a very reasonable price , its aaaaalllllllll goooooood baby

edit , ill have pics up saturday evening dan

dan , afaik , the rx6s are 275mm wide , can you tell me if this is the width of the plinth they sit on , or the actual speaker box width ?? im hoping the latter , cheers ..

matthewpiano:Max, I agree that is an opportunity too good to miss. The Silver range is considerably better than the Bronze in my opinion, particularly in terms of clarity, and it makes perfect sense to do it now while you can make a miniumum loss on the BR5s. Do give the NAD C326BEE a fair chance. It is a powerful little thing with plenty of drive and I've not really found it struggles to drive any speakers. In fact the little competition I've got going between my NAD and my Pioneer A400 isn't turning out to be quite as clear cut as I initially thought - the NAD is THAT good! As for the CD player, stick with the Marantz. The NAD would be a sideways move IMO and isn't as well built as the Marantz either. I've got one myself and while it is clearly a very good player, I'm not 100% convinced by it, hence the fact I'm using the Rotel at present.the nad 326bee has got plenty of kick to the sound but not in a aggressive way.

maxflinn:d_a_n1979:275mm wide @ the plinth
emotion-5.gif
so thats 275 plus the plinth
emotion-4.gif
?

No; the speakers are 180mm wide themselves; the base of the plinth is 275mm so at their widest; it's 275mm
emotion-1.gif

Nope but that's enough believe me.

They're fairly deep enough so you'll soon see why they have such good bass response

You really are a nay-sayer arent you PP!!!

Lave the fella alone to enjoy his new system without putting worries into his head about whether he's done the right thing etc...

It's the OP's decision to have gone down this route so lets leave him to it until he gets back to us all with feedback

Never! it shouldn't be allowed

. Contrary to my recent comments about Nad, I don't dislike the brand. What still puzzles me is a few of you talk about Nad as if its the only make around that price bracket.

Also, what is a myth is Arcam. I love my A65 but I'm not an Arcam fan per se. I've heard some real duffos in the past (mainly Alpha range), and I always mention the brand when people have MA speakers, purely because very few other makes gel as well together.

In agreement with you there PP re Arcam; plenty of turkeys in their arsenal IMO (Arcam Alpha 7 & 8, all the Diva range bar the A65 and A85, the FMJ range is a bit painful as well bar the A28 and the A32)

NAD seem to be very consistent though; I think it's more their looks that put people off. They havent done much bad at all since the NAD C320BEE. I havent heard any of their higer range gear though
