Charl:My computer crashed and i lost all songs saved on itunes! Is there a way of copying songs from my iPod back to iTunes?
Yes.
First of all, you need to make sure that your ITunes won't sync to your Ipod when you connect up. Otherwise, you will wipe your Ipod too. Connect your ipod to your computer and go into My Computer. Click on your Ipod there. You then need to be crafty as for some reason Apple don't want people to do this. You need to click Organize and then Folder Search Options. Click View and then you will see a list of options. You will see that under Hidden Files and Folders, Do not show hidden files and folders is checked. You need to change this to Show hidden files.
You then go back to My Computer and when you click on your Ipod a new folder will appear. I forget the name of it now. Within this folder, all your songs are hidden, encrypted. If you right click on the folder and click properties you will see if the folder is hidden. If it is, uncheck "hidden" and it will prompt you that this folder and all subfolders will now be shown.
You now need to copy this folder to your desktop. It will take a while if you have lots of songs. Once this has been done, you go into ITunes. You need to add this folder to the library and set ITunes to check all folders to library when in sync mode. It should then send your media from your folder on your desktop (the copy of your Ipod) to your ITunes when you next click sync.
I hope this makes sense.
