I am struggling to decide between a Harmony One and £200 in my pocket and a Harmony 1100, so was reading a few reviews on Amazon for both.

One review concerned me, and I'm not sure if it was just that someone didn't know how to do it, or if it was a real limitation. The reviewer said that he couldn't use the remote to switch between inputs on his amp because it involved pressing the same button multiple times to cycle through the different inputs, and the remote couldn't cope with that. I have an Onkyo amp, and the input (Sky, PS3, iPod etc) is selected by pressing either a left or right arrow on the remote to cycle through until you reach the one you want.

If the logitech remotes can't do this it takes away a lot of the appeal of having a 'Watch TV' button, and a 'Play PS3' button, etc and having all the kit do the right thing. ANyone have any experience of this?

Thanks a lot,

Ben

Don't know about Onkyo, but it does input select on my Pioneer.

Just a suggestion - do you have all HDMI through your amp?

If yes, then use the remote to switch on desired kit and let the amp switch the input.

Someone else feel free to add or correct me.

Cheers Si.

PS - I have a Harmony One.

I've got an Onkyo 876 and a Harmony One and have had no problems getting it to select the correct input. I don't have to cycle through them I just setup an activity to select the correct one.

I agree. I have a Harmony One and a Sony amp. I just have the correct amp input as part of the 'Activity' set up so it is selected automatically.

That bit is straightforward. What isn't, however, is if you want to select a particular sound field. On my Sony, for example, I select "Sat" as the input and then "AFD Auto" as the general sound field for TV viewing and "BD" and "Movie" for watching a BD; all through the Activity set-up. But within those two general sound fields, if I want to select "E-Surround" for watching TV, or "Cinema-A, B or C" for the BD, I can only do that by repeatedly pressing the relevant sound field button on the Harmony One (the virtual buttons on the Harmony One replicate the more widely-used buttons on the native remote).

Does that make sense?!
