hi everyone,

following the advice from Andrew Everard regarding a device to control tv, av receiver, & sky+, i invested in a Logitech Harmony 555.

the set up was quite straight forward even though it did take alittle time. the only function which i have difficulty in setting up is to program the 'Play Game' function where i set it to turn tv on, select the correct channel on my onkyo receiver, and lastly select the AV2 input on my pana TH-42PX80B, the tv and onkyo are fine but when it toggles through the inputs it comes to a halt on AV1. i use the AV1 to watch sky and have my Wii connected to the AV2 input via the scart adaptor which came with the console. i have tried calling the Logitech helpline but spent over an hour without joy, they then passed my case to the techical support team from which i received many emails confirming they have resolved the problem and all i needed to do was to update the harmony and it should work fine....but on each occasion disappointment!

so i just wondered if anyone else has had similar problems and if there are ways around it? an idea would be to replace the standard wii cables to components and try programming the harmony to select the component input instead.

overall the harmony is a handy peice of kit and even if the problem cannot be resolved, i can always select the AV2 manually on the 'Devices' then 'TV' buttons.

Yes, same issue with my Panny PX600 - I found a solution on another forum. Basically, just telling the remote to set the input channel to AV2 doesn't tend to work. Instead, customize the macro to add further button presses at the end, so it turns on all your equipment, then sends a command to set the channel to the PC input or the HDMI1 input (this always works, no matter what channel you're TV is currently set to). You are then at a known point so can send the correct colour button signals to get to the AV2 channel e.g. on mine, once you're on the PC input, you send a red button signal, then a green button signal and this gets you to AV2. This works for any other inputs as well if you need them in future e.g. red then yellow would get you AV3.
Hopefully, this should sort your issue - it's a bit roundabout but at least it works. If anything isn't clear above, let me know and I'll go through it again tomorrow on my system and put up some step by step instructions.

thanx for the tip, professor.

but being simple minded, i like to do things the simple way. what i have done is customerised the * button on the harmony to go to 'input video 2',which basically means when i select 'play game' it turns the sky off, changes the channel on the onkyo to the Wii, and then goes to AV1 (damn it!), so thats when i press the * and hey presto! its AV2 and mario kart Wii !!!

as you say alittle frustrating but i guess its challenges like these which keeps our minds on alert...
