daveh75:Well the Logitech extender is compatible with all their RF capable remotes.
Apart from the 900.... The RF extender that comes with the 900 is unique to the model. The separate RF extender that is compatible with the 890/895, 1000 and 1100 can't be used with the 900. Nor can a 3rd party RF extender be used with any of the RF models due to the radio frequency they operate on.
You could use a 3rd party IR extender however.
I've got the 1000 in the bedroom, and the 900 in the front room. As much as I love the 1000 and it's aesthetics, I have to say I prefer the 900. It's more practical, it's responsive, tactile, still has touchscreen capability and more importantly it has the coloured buttons on the fascia.
The only thing to bear in mind is if you're using RF. As mentioned previously, the RF extender is unique to the 900, and only comes with 2 IR blasters, contrary to Logitech stating on their website that it comes with 4 - that's an error on their part. The RF extender that is compatible with the 890/895, 1000 & 1100 comes with a total of 8 blasters however.
Luckily I only need to use the 1 IR blaster in the lounge, but it does work flawlessly contrary to what some peeps have posted on the net, and I've tested mine to 40ft.
In it's favour, the 900's RF extender doesn't need to be connected to a pc/laptop for the update via mini USB like the other RF extender. It's done wirelessly, which is a real touch if, like me, you have it in an awkward place that is a bit of a pain to remove.
This was one of my bug-bears with my RF extender for the 1000.
The 1000/1100 look the part - but for navigation, all those buttons on the 900 do make it more practical.
