After some great advice on here I spent a great weekend lifting carpet and connecting and running cables and installing my all new kit:
42” Viera passive 3D Smart TV, Sony BRD player, Wharfedale DX1-HCP speakers, old Virgin + box soon to be replaced with a Humax Youview (view unless anyone can think why not I need to get rid of the V box as part of the “agreement”) and the new Sony STRDN840 to link it all together via HDMIs.
Did the Sony auto calibration - no problems. Fired up Phantom Menace and it was all great, sound stage, stuff whizzing round the room just what I wanted. Really impressed!
Then we get to the later scenes and a big lip sync problem - so via settings I reset to HDMI auto and the problem is still there. So I manually set to 150ms and its about ok so I stop tampering to watch the rest of it.
Then its time for Downtown Abbey via the V+ box. It’s all about compromise ;-)
Same problem! So I change the 150ms to Auto HDMI still no change so I set manually to 300ms the max setting and its ok.
So am I missing something? In my set up and connections the TV is fed via the HDMI arc link from the AVR HDMI arc port.
I don’t want to have to set the AV delay each time I alter the source.
Any help will be gladly received.
Thanks
Marcus
