Lip Sync Problem with Yamaha AV Receiver

I have bought a new set up with Samsung 6530 LED TV and Yamaha VX467 AV receiver and I am plagued by lip sync issues. I am connecting the TV to the amp with digital optical and using the amp only - if watching TV (freeview) only the sound is BEHIND the vision. If I watch my Sony 370 blu ray this is also out of sync.

There are lots of combinations of settings between the TV and the amp and neither gives any useful guidance. As I understand it, the amp Lip Sync delay feature is only any good when the sound is IN FRONT of the vision. I have tried different cables and try unplugging it all and starting again, but still not good.

Anybody out there with a similar combination that can throw some light on this - please!!!!!!

Thanks

I find it interesting that no-one has replied - this suggests that this is a one-off and not a common problem.

The retailer is supporting me and I will report back if and when I resolve this.

Thanks.

If u listen to the sound through the tv is it in sync? (when ur using hdmi)

As ur using optical rather than hdmi ur gonna have to change the lipsync setting on the amp, change it to manual and fiddle around with it. (Page53 of manual).

I am making some progress with this - basically I started again by pulling all the cables and re-connecting everything - again!. Now much better sound on TV and Blu-ray.

As a general observation, they have made things quite complicated. I consider myself quite competent with tech stuff, and my amp is not the top end but it was surprising how complex it was and I was disappointed at the lack of advice on integrating things together. I am still not sure if it is better to have HDMI control (via Yamaha settings) or AnyNet control (via Samsung) on or off.

I am still think the sound is ever so slightly behind the vision, but once you become aware of a problem if gets magnified.

I have the 46c8000 and Yamaha 667 and i too suffer from the occasional lip sync issue.

go into Sound settings and change it from manual 0ms or 1ms and see if that helps. also motion processing causes issues too for me so i usually have it turned off.
