what sort of sound would a linn genki cdp produce .would it be a good match for a leema pulse as iv read on here that the pulse needs a lively cdp

Rest assured the pulse doesn't need a lively CDP and I think the Genki could work well. £1500 in its day. I used to have a Linn Mimik, the entry level at the time in the Linn range and it was a good peppy little unit. Not shouty, just well balanced and tonally pleasing - the kind of thing you could listen to for hours. I'd guess the Genki builds on that. Type "Linn Genki review" into Google and check out the first couple of links there. See also if Gramophone covered it (all their reviews are available online).

would the linn be a better choice than the arcam cd192 do you think

I don't know - you'd need to hear them side by side, both were good by all accounts. I think it would be more a case of personal preference; digital hadn't come on in huge leaps and bounds for standard CD, the Arcam may do upsampling - can't recall - so it's personal preference.

Linn Genki would go really well with the Leema as would AVi Lab Series. The CD tray is a bit Mickey Mouse (easily replaceable though) but it sounds excellent.Having owned both the AVI gets my vote.Make sure you go for one of the latest ones made ,early ones had a different tray which gave some problems.

yes, lively alright. the sound is slightly forward, not too bright though just enough zing to bring excitment out of music. The switchmode power supply always make electronic sound fast and tuneful imo, build quality is good rather than great (seem a bit lightweight for this price point) remote is also a bit fussy (in a true Linn's style).

Good, musical player.
