Hi,friends.

I live in Oporto, Portugal and I’m a regular reader of your magazine. I begin for ask you to forgive my miserable English. With your precious help I bought (many years ago) my first stereo amplifier, a Nad 7220 with a pair of BWs speakers. Later you’ve guided me for my Harman/ Kardon’s set with an AVR25 receiver, an TD4400 Cassette Deck and a FL 8300 CD carrousel. When I was looking for a videocassette recorder you whisper in my ears to look for the Panasonic NV-HD600 and when the DVD era came to stay you advised me to buy the Sony’s DVD Recorder RDR-HX510. Every time I’ve followed your tips and I’m very happy with that. The last time I’ve needed your help was to choose my Diamond 9 Wharfedale speakers that sing in my bedroom attached to an old but superb Luxman stereo amplifier and to my PC audio out.

Lately I’m reading your reviews to change my old Panasonic CRT TV. I was balancing between the LG 42LH5000 (1 000€) and the Philips 42PFL9664 (1 800 €) and I was near to buy this last one. But, suddenly, appears the LG 42SL8000 with an EISA Award and cheaper (about 1 150 €) and I find myself confused again. I’ve passed my eyes on your last magazine but I can’t find any word about this new LCD from LG. I’ve redecorated my living room with new sofas and a new furniture (that I’ve designed myself) to receive my Hi-FI and my new TV and my room is empty of life because there is no TV yet. Can you help this anguished reader from Portugal?

BestRegards,

Silvério

Greetings Luxman.Im also from portugal, lisbon. been at mediamarkt today .saw the sl8000 not sure it kicks the LH5000 or even the LH4000 into a corner, but looked nice.didn.t notice any flaws actually. the lh series sometimes suffers from a darker image on the sides odf the screen , especcially on the 42 inch models.I also notice that on the philips 7 and 8 series.

have you checked out the panasonic plasma range luxman ? unless you really want , like lcd , id take a look , ive seen a few lcds lately in friends houses and am more convinced now than ever that plasmas tend to have a nicer , more natural picture , having said that , the philips 9664 is the apple of whfis eye at the moment , i havnt seen one but id say they would be better than anything lcd that lg have at the moment ...just my thoughts ...

Thankyou guys.

Yes, I've seen that plastic look too and it's one of the things that make me wonder.
