Just unpacked a brand new BD390 and thought the first thing I would do is feed it with a SD disc could someone please tell me if this player upscales these discs because I was very dissapointed with the rersults of the SD disc my old Denon produces better playback I must have done something wrong can anyone help I am off to feed it with a blu ray disc now

it should upscale everything.see if you got it set up properly.let us know your findings later.denon dvd player?

Can you clarify? Does the picture fill up your TV screen (regardless of quality)? If yes, then either your LG BD390 or your TV is upscaling (or your receiver). Denon's upscaling abilities is probably better than LG's.

The Denon cannot upscale its an old DVD player but the picture quality output is far better than the LG on SD discs and that just dont seem right

Got another question about this player in my Home Cinema set up I have two back surround speakers and two side surround speakers in the set up menu of the player I set the speakers to 7.1 but when playing Batman Begins last night no sound was coming out of the back rears, the Yamaha amp is set to multi channel output and I have connected the LG to the Yam using the correct 7.1 to 7.1 phono jacks is it because most of these Blu ray films are 5.1 and thats why I am not getting sound out of all my speakers
