LED vs LCD

Im looking into getting a new 46" flat screen. I like the look of the LED TV's but they are at a premium over the LCD's.

My question is: is theis premium worth it and are LED's much better than LCD regards to picture quality?

Opinions please?

There are LED screens and then there are LED screens. It is not so much the technology but how it is implemented. Standard CCFL LCD screens can outperform LED screens, perticularly the edge lit desgins.

It is generally accepted the back lit LED give you a better picture but that again depends on the number of segments and how good the processing is.

I would get yourself to a local specialist and view the screens first hand. Buy on the overall picture quality that you prefer rather than the type of screen.
