Just thought I would share my thoughts about the klipsch x10 which I have had for about 4 weeks now. I have never spent anywhere near this kind of money on any headphones before especially in ear phones so this was quite a big purchase for me. I have owned a pair of Grado sr60 (eBay £45) Goldring ns2000 (£50 ssle) senheiser pxc200 (eBay £50) and some cx300 so that is what I am comparing them to. First impressions were not great. The wire is very thin and to be honest doesn't look as sturdy as some budget phones. This prompted me to look at the warranty and this looks quite limited and only 1year. On the more positive side the phones are really comfortable when in the ear, they are light and you almost fort they are in there. Noise isolation is very good one of the reasons I went for them is that I do most of my listening on the tube so isolation is very important. Now for the sound! Initially I used my old ipod classic which has mostly low bit rate music and I must say I was really disappointed. The sound was flat and the bass very flabby at times. Not to be defeated I switched to my iPhone using the spotify app. There was a big difference and when listening to the wild beasts album there was a real sense of depth and you could get much more of the detail and emotion. I then switched to some higher bot rate tracks (lossless or 320) and i started to feel like the purchase was not such disaster! Great detail and separation of instruments. One thing which was not so good is that vocals seem to get a bit lost at times. Overall I am quite happy, I do not think they have the detail and clarity of my grados or the full bodied sound of the goldrings but in the end the grados are useless for listening out and about due to noise leakage and the goldrings caused interference with my phone when noise cancelling was turned on which had lead to me not listening to music. These earphones have got me into music while on the move again and I think that is the important thing! Are they worth £130? For pure sound quality i am nit so sure; I think you can get better sound with over ear phones but for my needs they have the usability and flexibility where others with perhaps better sound have not. I didn't say they were good value for money did I? If anything I hinted they were a bit overpriced. I tried some top of the range shure iems and didn't like them at all and they were twice the price I paid for the x10. I don't have a great deal of knowledge about iems and I found it quite hard to find consistent reviews of other models and from what I could see if you want to dual drivers etc you have to pay over £200+ which is almost double what I paid. What would you have recomended at the £130 mark which was much better?

As for better value than the X10, try the Etymotic HF5 or HF2 (the latter being the former with a mic for iphone), for only £70. I use these myself and they offer stunning clarity and isolation.
